This is an informative guide to help you shop in the Durrant Farms’s digital farm store this year. We have a variety of alpaca products that are grown sustainably and processed in the US. We also have experiences available for purchase in the farm store as well during the spring, summer and early fall months. Let’s break it down.
The Host Co.
The Host Co. is the landing page for our current farm store. It was originally intended to be used by guests at the farmstay, but it has expanded to include non-guests as well! The Host.co store is super simple. You can browse items and purchase them through that site. We are notified anytime there is a purchase or a request in the farm store.
Once we receive the notification, we reach out to you to determine pickup or shipping. If you pick up on the farm, you also get a chance to visit the llamas and alpacas! If you are not local, and would like the products shipped, then we will get your address and ship it to you right away.
We have plans for a more streamlined farm store in the future, for now, this is what we’re working with. Let’s take a look at what you can buy in the farm store. EDIT!! (January 2024) Our new and improved online shopping experience is available. Click here to browse our products and ship them straight to your home just like a normal e-commerce site.
This doesn’t mean our host.co site is gone forever though! Here’s what we’re selling:
Fiber Goods:
- Our fine fiber goods are grown sustainably in the US by small scale fiber farmers, just like us! Our boys’ fiber goes into a “fiber pool” and then the farmers get to use and sell the products that are created from it. We have lustrous throw blankets, soft and strong yarn, and the warmest and most breathable alpaca fiber socks. Shipping included for orders over $100. Or, as noted above, free pickup on the farm!
Alpaca Experiences:
- The two signature alpaca experiences that we offer are available in the farm store as well. We close these experiences during the winter season (Nov-Mar) and will be opening them back up around mid-April, weather depending. That being said, you can still purchase your alpaca experiences and schedule ahead for the spring or summer! This would also make a great gift for a couple or small family that loves traveling to Asheville.
Guest Amenities:
- While you’re browsing the shop you might notice some guest amenities, like a 60 or 90-minute massage or a mid-stay cleaning. These are primarily for guests of the farmstay. While you may purchase these as well, they don’t really make sense as a gift unless you’re also reserving nights in on the farm. Wouldn’t it be such a sweet surprise to book an in-suite massage for your sweetie on your farmstay getaway? The Guesthouse can be rented out directly on our website, and there you can add on the guest amenities to your reservation.
Partner Experiences
See the hot air balloon experience? Or, the professional photography vacation photo shoot? We have a variety of hosted experiences with our community partners. You can book these through our host.co site and then work directly with our community partners to enrich your stay with us. Ziplining, brewery tours, and more! Be sure to check those out.
