Farm & Alpaca Experiences

Can we stop by to see your animals?
Not quite — we’re a working farm and don’t allow casual pop-ins or traditional pay-to-pet visits. Instead, we offer more intentional, personalized experiences with our animals that provide meaningful interaction and a better sense of the farm.

What experiences do you offer to interact with the animals?
Our signature offering is Brunch with Alpacas — a cozy picnic-style brunch in the pasture with an hour of up-close time with our friendly herd. It includes fruit, biscuits, preserves, juice, and iced coffee. Reservations are required with at least 48 hours’ notice, and we accommodate dietary needs.

Do I have to stay overnight to book an alpaca experience?
Nope! You don’t have to stay in our Airbnb to join us for an experience. All are welcome — just book in advance.

Are reservations required?
Yes. We require at least 48 hours’ notice to ensure we can prep the pasture and food accordingly.

How do I make a reservation?
To book, reserve an appointment in our brunch calendar: https://durrantfarms.com/product/brunch-with-alpacas/

Once purchased, we’ll send a confirmation email with address, directions and ask for dietary restrictions.

Are your experiences kid-friendly?
Yes! Our alpacas and llamas are gentle with little ones, and we offer kid pricing (ages 8 and under). We also have a high chair available upon request.

Do you have other animals?
Yes! We recently added chickens and honey bees. While there are no formal experiences with them yet, we’ll be offering farm-fresh eggs and honey in our shop soon.

What if it rains? Are your experiences weather dependent?
Yes — alpaca brunches and pasture visits are weather dependent. If poor weather is expected, you can choose to cancel for a full refund or reschedule (no refunds for reschedules).

What is your cancellation policy?

Changes: Add or subtract guests at no charge (refunds minus service fees for reductions).

Guest cancellations:
• 15+ days in advance: full refund minus service fees
• 14 days or less: 50% refund
• 48 hours or less: no refund
• No-shows: no refund

If Durrant Farms cancels: full refund, including service fees.

Weddings & PRIVATE Events FAQ

How much does it cost to get married at Durrant Farms Estate?
Our wedding packages start $900 and vary based on the length of access (half-day to full weekend), guest count, and season. You can download our full pricing guide [here] or contact us directly to get a custom quote that fits your vision.

What’s included in your wedding packages?
All of our packages include private venue access, use of the ceremony arbor and reception pavilion, a 2-bedroom cottage for getting ready (and overnight stays with select packages), standard rentals (tables, chairs, tent for up to 100 guests), and on-site coordination by our team. Some packages also include fire pit access, custom signage, and even alpaca photo ops!

How many guests can we invite?
We host weddings and events for up to 200 guests. Our packages are designed to suit everything from intimate elopements and microweddings to full weekend celebrations.

Do you allow outside vendors?
Yes! We welcome outside caterers, photographers, florists, and other vendors, as long as they comply with our venue policies. We’re happy to share our recommended vendor list if you’d like some local favorites.

Can we stay overnight on the property?
Absolutely. Our 2-bedroom cottage is available for overnight stays with select wedding packages, and we’re currently adding RV and glamping options for guests who want to linger a little longer.

Do you host other events besides weddings?
Yes! We also host bachelorette brunches, vow renewals, retreats, family reunions, and small festivals. If you can dream it up and it fits within our event scope, we’d love to help you bring it to life.

Accommodations & Stays

Do you have lodging on the property?
Yes! Our on-site 2-bedroom cottage is available for overnight stays, included with select wedding packages or bookable separately through Airbnb. It’s the perfect cozy home base for couples, families, or guests looking to extend their time on the farm.

Do I need to book a wedding to stay in the cottage?
Not at all. Our cottage is open to anyone looking for a peaceful farm getaway near Asheville — whether you’re here for a weekend escape, a retreat, or a quiet stay with the alpacas.

Are there other accommodations at the estate?
Yes! We’re adding two RV sites and ten primitive camping spots — perfect for wedding guests, event attendees, or anyone who loves a little outdoor comfort with a view.

Can I visit the animals if I stay overnight?
The alpacas and llamas are always available from the fenceline! While in-pasture access isn’t automatic with your booking, overnight guests can add-on a private brunch or pasture visit at a reduced rate — just ask when booking!

Are your rentals pet-friendly?
We allow up to two well-behaved dogs who remain on leash and cleaned up after when outside.

Farm Shop & Products

Do you have a farm store?
Yes — both in-person and online! Our farm shop features a curated collection of Durrant Farms goods and seasonal favorites.

What do you sell?
We offer a mix of handmade and farm-grown items like alpaca dryer ball sets, yarn, honey, eggs, and wedding favors including lavender bundles, artisan soaps, and mini honey jars. Seasonal items are always rotating!

Do you ship products?
Yes! Most of our small goods are available for shipping in the U.S. We’re a small team, so please allow a few extra days for fulfillment.

Can I buy something during a visit?
Absolutely. During events or booked experiences, our on-site shop will be open for browsing and purchases — with exclusive items available only to in-person guests.

Do you have a return policy?
We’re a small, family-run farm and each item we offer—whether made by hand or sourced with care—is part of the larger story we’re building here. Because of the nature of our work, all sales are considered final unless a return is approved via email.

If you have a concern with your order, please reach out within 14 days of delivery and we’ll do our best to help.

If a return is approved:
A 15% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund to help account for handling and time.
You’ll be responsible for return shipping.
Returned items must be unused, in original condition, and sent back in original or equivalent packaging.
Refunds will be processed once the item is received and inspected.

Non-returnable items include:
Custom or made-to-order items
Sale or discounted items
Perishable products
Gift cards

We appreciate your understanding and support—it allows us to keep doing what we love here on the farm.

Keep 'em coming!
