Durrant Farms Newsletter

Hey friend!

How have you been? You may have noticed we missed our June edition of the newsletter. As you may imagine, summertime is an incredibly busy time for farmers and we are no exception. We’ve been steadily working on our garden buildout, tending to our animals, and getting featured in the news all while hosting guests- overnight and day visitors alike! Check out our feature in the Carolina Journal for the series they are doing to bring attention to food insecurity in North Carolina.

Now, for a little update on our animals. Our chickens and goose have reached maturity and should start producing eggs any day now. The goose, Ryan Gosling, is a GIRL! As she’s reached maturity, we realized her features are much more aligned with a female goose. She’s become quite attached to her chicken friends and will honk loudly anytime we come close to their enclosure. Don’t worry though, she is a very friendly goose. She does not chase, hiss, or bite. She loves people and we encourage all our guests to interact with her to keep her socialized. Hint: Giving her grass clippings is the key to her heart.

As for our alpaca and llama guys, they’ve been staying out of trouble for the most part. Ralph, however, decided to brawl with Brinkley a couple weeks ago and came away with a bloody lip an a scratched up nose. We were worried he might lose part of his lip, but alas, with some basic first aid, he walked away with minimal scarring. Whew!

Cold Plunge is OPEN!!!

Ready to beat the summer heat? Come take a dip in our cold plunge. At first we thought we would be able to keep it cold with ice alone, but quickly realized that wasn’t going to work. So, we ordered the chiller, installed it, and now the cold tub stays cold no matter what the temperature is outside. This amenity is on the deck next to the sauna and is available for guest use. Book your stay now to access this chilled-out luxury during your visit.
