Every new season brings its share of “firsts.” On August 16th, we experienced one of our most meaningful milestones: our very first wedding at Durrant Farms Estate. Alex and Selah began their married life here on the farm, and their day marked the start of what we hope will be many more love stories celebrated on our property.
Rehearsal & Getting Ready
The weekend started with a sweet, intimate rehearsal the evening before, attended by close friends and family. Just minutes before the rehearsal, we finished pouring the concrete for the ceremony aisle. It was a small but symbolic detail: the foundation was set just in time for Alex and Selah’s walk down it the very next day.
On the night before the wedding, Selah and her best friend buried a hot dog in the backyard — a playful superstition meant to prevent rain. Judging by the perfect weather the next day, it may have just worked because the weather couldn’t have been better!
On the morning of the wedding, the bridal party gathered in our cozy cottage to get ready. Laughter, nerves, and excitement filled the rooms as everyone prepared for the day ahead.

Hair and makeup started early, and the photographer captured every detail throughout the morning. The groomsmen arrived mid-day, while the bridal portraits, including family and the wedding party, were taken before and after the ceremony.
The Ceremony by the Pond

Alex and Selah chose to exchange vows near the pond, next to our young willow tree, with mountain views and the fountain in the background. Their floral arch, designed in soft pinks, whites, and natural greens, created a romantic yet airy backdrop. Roses, peonies, and hydrangeas were the stars of the florals, with many arrangements lovingly assembled by Selah’s mother.
To help guests stay comfortable in the sun, the couple included sweet pink paper umbrellas and baby blue paper accordion fans — a charming and thoughtful touch that added even more color to the pastel palette.
Guests enjoyed classical, romantic instrumental music leading up to the ceremony, which perfectly set the tone. Alex and Selah kept all the music throughout the wedding in-house as much of their family, both bride and groom’s side, are in the music industry.

After their vows, guests were surprised with a beautiful rainbow stretching across the sky, framing the couple and the pasture in one of those rare, unforgettable moments you can’t plan but never forget.
Cocktail Hour & Reception
Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the pavilion for cocktail hour before moving to a tent on the great lawn. The tent, rented locally from Professional Party Rentals, provided the perfect spot for dinner and dancing.
Alex and Selah added on our custom sign package, which featured welcome signs, table numbers, and more — tying together the look and feel of their day with thoughtful detail.

Dinner was locally catered, and we personally got to try the tiramisu and strawberry shortcake sliders, which were a delicious highlight!
We’d also like to give a huge shoutout to Sarah Murphy of Foxglove Event Co., whose expert planning kept everything running smoothly so that Alex and Selah could fully enjoy their day without worry.
Dancing the Night Away
Once dinner concluded, the energy shifted to dancing. Upbeat jams — including hits like Black Eyed Peas’ Pump It! — got everyone on the floor. Alex and Selah, with the help of friends and family, even built their own dance floor, creating a central space for celebration and connection. At the end of the night, instead of a traditional send-off, the couple shared a private dance together while their maid of honor filmed from afar — a sweet, intimate moment just for the two of them.
The Alpacas
Though the couple didn’t include alpaca add-ons, guests had fun greeting the herd over the fence. Our treat dispenser kept the boys close for a few memorable photos and interactions. The alpacas, as always, added a little playful charm to the day without being front and center.
A Beginning We’ll Always Remember

Alex and Selah’s wedding was filled with love, laughter, and a few unforgettable surprises — the freshly poured aisle, rainbow over the pasture, and even a little hot dog humor. It set a beautiful tone for all the weddings to come at Durrant Farms Estate, and we feel so lucky to have been part of their first steps together as a married couple.
To Alex and Selah: thank you for letting us share in your day. We wish you a lifetime of joy, happiness, and moments as magical as your wedding day.
