🍂 Late Summer Shifts, Autumn on the Horizon

The air has started to cool ever so slightly, and the evenings are beginning to stretch longer with a softer glow. There’s that unmistakable sense that fall is slowly approaching—but for now, summer still holds us in its warmth. The pastures are alive with the hum of crickets and cicadas, the gardens continue to overflow, and the boys are enjoying the last long days of grazing before the chill arrives. If you can’t tell by this introduction, fall is the Durrant Farm’s Estate team’s (and yes, that includes the alpacas) favorite time of year. We’re looking forward to chilly mornings and temperate afternoons of tending the land.
But for now, we relish this season of in-between: where late-summer abundance mingles with the first hints of autumn, reminding us to savor the moment while also looking ahead to the cozy months to come.
💍 A Wedding to Remember

In mid-August, we celebrated a milestone that felt both tender and momentous—our very first wedding at Durrant Farms Estate. Selah and Alex exchanged vows surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of the land. While nearby towns were showered in rain that day, the skies above the estate stayed clear. And just following the ceremony, a rainbow appeared overhead—casting the most magical glow across the pond and pavilion.
It felt like a blessing, not only for Selah and Alex’s union, but also for the unfolding future of Durrant Farms as a place where love stories will continue to be honored and celebrated. Hosting such a beautiful beginning has left us even more excited to welcome more couples in the months and years ahead.
🦙 Upcoming Events on the Land
We’re excited to invite you to two special gatherings this Fall:
🌳 Tree Planting Day of Remembrance – Saturday, September 27th, 2025

As the anniversary of Hurricane Helene approaches, we are reminded of the deep impact it left on this land and our wider community. In its honor, we’ll be gathering together to plant trees across the property—returning life, resilience, and hope to the soil.
We’d love for you to join us for this hands-on day of remembrance and renewal. After the work is done, we’ll share a meal of Rocky’s Hot Chicken as a thank-you to all the helping hands who show up to make a difference. Your presence means more than words can express, and we remain endlessly grateful for the way this community continues to rise together.
🍷 Alpaca Social Happy Hour – Friday, October 17th
This October, we’re opening the gates for an evening stroll with the boys. Guests are invited to wander the pasture, learn more about the herd, a

nd spend time soaking in their gentle presence. Alongside the alpaca company, we’ll share refreshments and hors d’oeuvres to make it a true community gathering.
It’s one of our favorite ways to connect—an unhurried evening where farm life, good company, and a touch of alpaca magic meet. This is an event for all ages!
✨ New Projects Taking Shape
It’s been a season of growth not just in spirit, but in building. A few of our most exciting projects are now taking shape:

A New Aisle: Our freshly poured concrete walkway now runs from the pavilion all the way to the pond. This addition creates greater accessibility across the property and also serves as the perfect aisle for a bride making her way toward the water. It’s already added so much beauty and function to the estate.

This is what the finished product will look like…we hope!
The Sauna Project: At the end of August, we began construction on our new cabin-style sauna, a dream we’ve been carrying for quite some time. It will offer guests a grounding, restorative space, nestled right here on the land. We’re aiming to have it fully finished by mid-September—and we can’t wait to step inside for the first time alongside all of you.
Every addition feels like another way of deepening the farm experience, making it not just a place to visit, but a place to truly settle into.
🎂 Alpaca Birthdays!
September is a month of celebration for two of our beloved boys—Ralph and Hotline!
Ralph turns 3 on September 1st. He’s our rambunctious, social butterfly who’s always ready to greet visitors with a kiss. Ralph loves attention, thrives on play, and makes sure everyone knows he’s around—just don’t ask him to go out in the rain (he insists on staying dry!).

Hotline turns 11 on September 9th, making him the oldest in our herd. He’s a gentle, quiet soul who never says no to a treat and is happiest alongside his best friend and fellow suri alpaca, Micah. With his calm nature, Hotline balances out Ralph’s lively energy perfectly.

Celebrating both Ralph’s youthful spirit and Hotline’s wise presence feels extra special—it’s a reminder of the beautiful range of personalities that make up our herd. Happy birthday boys!!
☀️ Closing Out a Full Summer
This summer has been one of our busiest and most joy-filled yet. From countless brunch gatherings to new milestones on the property, the farm has been alive with energy and connection. Every booking and every moment of laughter has added to the story we’re creating together here at Durrant Farms.
As we move from summer’s bright fullness into the soft breeze of fall, we carry deep gratitude for each of you—for showing up, for believing in our vision, and for helping us grow into all that we’re becoming. None of this would be possible without the love and support of this community.
Here’s to all that we’ve created together, and to the season ahead—full of new beginnings, cozy gatherings, and the quiet beauty of change.
With gratitude and soft alpaca hugs,
The Durrant Farms Team
