🌦 From Rain to Renewal: Late Summer on the Land

The boys were enjoying a beautiful sunset after the rain when a rainbow appeared!

Hello from the winding paths and quiet meadows of Durrant Farms,

This summer has brought a steady rhythm of rain—soft showers, sudden downpours, and the kind of nourishing storms that make everything smell like fresh earth and possibility. The land has been drinking it in, and you can feel the pulse of renewal everywhere: in the bright green of the pasture, the overflowing garden beds, and even the muddy hooves of our curious herd.

One of the sweetest things we’ve witnessed this season is a baby fawn growing up right outside our door. We first spotted it tucked in the grass, barely bigger than a cat, and now we see it almost daily—playing with its mom, exploring the edge of the pond, and even hopping around in the rain.

With all this water and new life, it really does feel like a fresh season here—full of small beginnings and exciting changes. We’ve got some big updates to share this month, from our newly launched website to the opening of our guest cottage, and a few special events on the horizon.

Here’s what’s unfolding on the farm…

🌐 We Have a New Website!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new and improved website:durrantfarms.com

This refresh feels like a milestone—a more accurate reflection of who we are and where we’re headed. The new site includes:

  • A dedicated events page to keep you updated on all our gatherings, big and small
  • A page for couples to explore Durrant farms Estate as the venue for their big day
  • A product shop featuring the Boys’ yarn and farm-made goods
  • Stories from the land, updated regularly so you can follow along no matter where you are
  • And an updated lodging section for those looking to book an overnight visit

We hope it feels like walking the farm paths in your own time—simple, soulful, and full of little discoveries.

šŸ” New:Ā The CottageĀ Is Open for Booking!

We’re thrilled to share that our cozy two‑bedroom, one‑bath Guest Cottage is now officially open and ready for your stay! Overlooking the alpaca pasture and our serene pond, it’s the perfect spot for a getaway—whether you’re celebrating a special moment or simply escaping for some farm-fresh peace. The cottage is part of our lodging offerings alongside the guesthouse, RV sites, and camping cove.

Guests have exclusive access to the on-site sauna, cold plunge, and winding walking trails through the woods and fields. It’s been designed to feel like a quiet home-away-from-home, blending comfort with the natural rhythms of farm life.

We’re now accepting bookings through our website—visit the “Lodging” section to reserve your dates and start dreaming of fresh morning walks, peaceful pondside moments, and evening bonfires with the alpacas nearby.

🌿 Upcoming Events on the Farm: Community, Connection & Commemoration

We’re excited to invite you to two special gatherings this September:

🌳 Tree Planting Day of Remembrance ā€“ Saturday, September 27th

In honor of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene—a storm that forever changed our landscape—we’re gathering for a community tree planting day. This volunteer event will help us restore what was lost and plant hope for the future.
After planting, we’ll share a nourishing meal together as we remember the trees and land we love so deeply. All are welcome.

🧶 Product Spotlight: The Boys’ Yarn

The boys have spun something extra special for you. We still have a few skeins of yarn left from our first fiber harvest and let me tell you, this yarn is so special! Their fleece has been spun into the coziest skeins—cloud-soft, naturally hued, and full of personality.

Choose From:

Whether you’re an experienced knitter or just yarn-curious, this is a great time to grab a bundle for yourself or a loved one. And keep an eye out: we’re planning to host on-farm knitting circles this fall where you can sit among the herd and craft something warm, peaceful, and entirely your own.

That’s All for Now

Thanks, as always, for being part of this growing community. Every visit, message, or shared story plants something meaningful here. As the seasons shift, we’re reminded that change can be beautiful—and often, it arrives gently, like the first steps of a new fawn by the pond.

We hope to welcome you back to the land soon.

With gratitude and soft alpaca hugs,

The Durrant Farms Team
